Wadi Abu Mu Awad

Wadi Abu Mu Awad is in the southern region of the survey area, but of the 22 sites only 4 can be given a predynastic date compared to 11 pharaonic or later. There are also considerable numbers of hieroglyphic inscriptions (Rothe, 2008). Thus it stands out amongst the generally early character of the southern rock-art. It was probably a route to the gold mines around Bir Dagbag further east.
